Mountain of Tiruparankundram

                        The Mountain of Tirupparankundram is about 1050 ft above the sea level. A special passage is formed to reach the top of the mountain. At the bottom of mountain is Palaniandavar Temple. Near the temple there is the staircase. And also near the Saravana Poigai the construction works of the staircase is in the finishing positions. Ancient trees are rarely appeared. On the top of the mountain Kasi Viswanathar Temple is there. Nearest to that a small spring is there named it as Kasisunai. In this spring the fishes are very beautiful. Devotees are enjoying by offering fried paddy (pori) to the fishes. On the top of mountain there is a mosque where muslim worship there. They called it as Sikkandar Mountain. It is of course Sikkandar mountain has been pronounced is due course as Sikkandar mountain. To the western side of the mosque beyond 100 yards there is a small cave which is having east-west five narrow small beds engraved in stone. On the top of the mountain Vilvam, Itchi trees are there. Every year on the top of the mountain the people of the village have taken the Vel (Spear) in the palanquin which is in the hands of Moolavar God Muruga and conducted the festival ceremony there. This festival is held in the month of Purattasi. On that devotees are going to the mountain and worshipped there. The human being to live in the earth the rain is essential. For that rain the festival of ‘Vel malaikku chellum vizha’ is being held. This incident is called in old tradition, to retrieve Nakkeerar from the cave; the Vel is going to the mountain.

The position of the God in the sanctum sanctorum and the position of the Temple is described in a separate headings. The speciality of the temple is that the divine marriage had held in this temple, all the Gods are in a smiling face. Another one is that in the Goddess Durgai Amman Sannathi saint Gugan and in the Pavazhakkanivai Perumal sannathi, saint Mathanga Mamunivar are in a penance position worshipping the Gods. The elder brother of God Murugan, Arulmigu Karpaga Vinayagar sitting in the lotus flower and having sugarcane in the hand and nearest to Him Veera Anjaneyar supporting the Sanjeevi Mountain in the hand position is really an attractive one. We can’t see anywhere Somaskandamoorthy is under the umbrella of mountain in the sannathi of Arulmigu Sathiagreeswarar.
Description of the Sthalam (Place)
We have already mentioned about the place of Tirupparankundram elaborately. The list of books and in the heading of literatures about the place is already given. This place is characteristically mentioned famous temple in the songs of Thevaram book. Tirupparankundram is one of the fourteen Saiva places in Pandiyan Kingdom that has songs in Thevaram. It is very famous because that Thirugnanasambanthar, Sundaramoorthy Nayanar, Nakkeerar and Arunagirinathar have sung in their songs about this place. Nothing to say that God Muruga did penance here.

God Murugan has six padai veedukal. Padai veedu means the barracks used to stay with the military personnel to fight against the enemy.
